Heating an indoor pool typically depends on your geographic location. If you live in a mild or warmer area, it may not be necessary, since sunlight can do the heating for you. If you live in a climate with more extreme or fluctuating temperatures, you should consider heating your indoor pool if you want to be comfortable using it regularly. Your own personal preference is a factor as well. Do what you feel is best for you and your home!
This leads us into our next topic. An indoor pool cover can actually save you some money in the energy cost (possibly 50-70% in savings!) to heat your pool. So if you’re considering heating your pool you should also decide if you’d like to have a cover for it too.
If you want to save on energy costs, then yes, your home indoor pool needs a cover. If you plan on using your indoor pool most days and don’t want to spend a ton of time covering and uncovering it, then no. (Unless you’d like an automated pool cover!)
Indoor pools do not need a pool cover for the traditional reason of protecting it from the elements and outdoor debris. Home indoor pool covers can save you money on energy by reducing water evaporation and the need to ventilate and replace the air surrounding the pool.
